Services were held at 2 p.m. at the Mennonite Brethren Church of Shafter for George Nikkel 76 who died January 23 in Bakersfield. Interment followed at Shafter Memorial Park. Born in Corn Oklahoma he moved to California 60 years ago living mostly in Shafter. Survived by two sons John Visalia and George San Jose two daughters Peggy Kroeder Shafter Katherine Nikkel Wasco one brother Dave Nikkel Shafter one sister Susan Voth Lodi eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was a farmer and later in custom harvesting. He was a member of South Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church and Singles for Christ. The cure for most ills is honesty.
