A meeting in the Richland Grammar School auditorium formed the Townsend Old Age Pension Club with 7 members signing on. E A Trent of Shafter was named temporary chairman and the group plans a second meeting next Wednesday evening.
The Shafter High School foods class hosted an informal luncheon on January 22 with members inviting peers as guests. Honor Roll lists numerous students, while Honor Society names California Scholastic Federation members. Annual Associated Students spring officers were elected January 24 with 139 votes cast. A Girls Letter Club trip to Greenhorn featured a Wiener roast lunch and a Snow bound afternoon at Shirley Meadows.
The church led by Minister Wm J Bestwater holds Sunday school at 9 30 a m and morning worship at 10 30 a m with invocation announcements and choir selections followed by offerings for foreign missions.
Scripture lesson and prayers led by the Rev. John S. Voth returned missionary of India. Benediction at 2 PM. Communion service at 2 PM. 6 30 PM meeting of the C E societies. 7 30 PM evening services conducted by the Rev. J S Voth.
Minister Dr T Hilton Ratcliffe leads February Sunday activities at Union Congregation Al Church with church school at 9 A M and morning worship at 10 A M The sermon titled Four Pillars of Civilization is presented with accompaniment by Robert Rath and Mrs J H Porterfield Visitors are welcomed and encouraged to make a church home
