Silver salmon thrive in Lake Oroville as anglers report strong growth
Anglers report silver salmon planted in Lake Oroville last spring show excellent growth and good fighting ability. A 3-pound 3-ounce specimen with a $5 reward tag was among 50,000 seven to nine inch fish planted in April 1969. Fish feed near the surface on threadfin shad, with winter and early spring fishing expected to be excellent. Initial reports favor silver salmon over browns and rainbow trout, though trout fishing remains strong between storms.
