Tide of growth in Shafter eyed as chamber charts future
The Shafter Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture pushes a bold plan to revitalize the city as it braces for major growth. Water stability comes with a $10 million Shafter Wasco Irrigation District project, while projections from Stanford research and local agencies forecast a 60 percent population rise to 25,000 in 18 years. The chamber seeks aggressive land use, development, and municipal expansion to position Shafter as a regional leader, with the annual meeting next Monday night slated as a kickoff.
