Free Chest X-ray Unit To Visit Shafter January 27–30
The Kern County Mobil X-ray unit, offered by the TB Association, will operate at Richland Grammar School for four days. Students from nearby academies join the school examinations on January 27–28, while adults may be tested January 29–30, from 1–5 and 6–9 p.m. No infants are tested. age requirement is 12 years. Local chairman Mrs Charley Burns and volunteers from clubs, organizations, and nursing groups assist planning.

Shafter High School Property Annexed by City Council
The Shafter high school property including an 80 acre addition to the school farm was annexed to the city by ordinance adopted Monday night. The Shafter Public Utility District did likewise. The council also extended daily burning hours to 4:00 pm and approved funds to build a fire siren tower with hose hanger. A separate ordinance moves sales tax payments due date from the 15th to the 30th to align with state rules. An additional ordinance switches the electrical code to the Universal Code from the National code.

The Shafter 20-30 club led a community drive to raise funds for milk to be loaded on the California Goodwill Milk Ship bound for Europe.
