Shafter Mayor Named to Cal-ID Local Board
Shafter Mayor Don Zachary was appointed to the seven member Kern County Cal-ID Local Input Terminal board. The panel will place the Remote Access Network and oversee operation and maintenance while coordinating law enforcement access to fingerprints and criminal records. Chief Frank Christensen said the appointment gives Shafter a voice in the project.

Police Reward for Swift Action in Car Theft Case
An alert Shafter police team identified a stolen 1985 Cadillac from Manuel Avenue, locating the vehicle within an hour at 9:30 a.m. These efforts led to two juveniles being apprehended, with the car returned to its owner after a burglary possibly tied to the thefts over the prior weeks.
