One hundred fifty thousand sacks or more than 400 railroad cars of potatoes were washed graded and shipped from the Em H Met tler and Sons Shafter shed during the first winter season. Potatoes came from Mettler ranches in Cuyama Valley Tejon Ranch and Porterville area with about a quarter from other growers.
