War Time School Courses Adopted For Junior Year
In a plan approved by the War Department and State Board of Education a new war time curriculum will be taught in the second semester at the high school. Courses will use unit blocks led by specialists with home repair and two weeks on first aid earning a junior first aid certificate. Miss Frasauila Sullivan leads the first aid unit under Red Cross supervision. Principal E P Jones says the goal is to give seniors practical experience for wartime emergencies and useful knowledge in any era.

Local Army Reserve Cadet Raymond to Report for Flight Training
Raymond, a Shafter High School graduate class of 1941, is ordered to active duty of the U.S. Naval Reserve. Major F G Hanson the Minter Field secretary announced that youths who have reached seventeen but not eighteen may enlist in the Army Enlisted Reserve Corps under conditions.
