Shafter Potato Market Outlook Fades for 1938 Deal

The Produce News reports a cautious forecast for Shafter and Kern County potato crops in 1938. Early movement from Kern and Paradise areas is modest, with Hawaiian and Colma districts starting small. Idaho Russet and Yakima-area stocks affect pricing, while Kern acreage is up from 1936 but total value lags due to lower prices. Shipments through mid year show gradual activity, with no strong upside yet for the new crop.
