Soldier Back From Korea Front Returns Home
Cpl. Hector KR Herrera, wife Amelia of Buttonwillow, returns to the United States under the Army rotation after 18 months in the Far East. In the 1st Cavalry Division he spent 17 months on the front lines in Korea before moving to security duty in Japan in late 1951. A truckmaster in the 15th Quartermaster Company, he entered the Army in February 1951 and served five months in Korea. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Rey of Wasco.

Legion Election Set by Shafter American Legion
The Shafter American Legion will hold its annual officer election. Nominations close after the Feb. 46 meeting with candidates listed including Earl Wipf as commander Elmer Ziemke Pat Bradshaw George Enns Rudy Lopez and others for adjutant chaplain sergeant at arms and executive committee seats. Wipf currently serves as commander and Hare leads the Legion district.
