World’s Largest Ag Show Opens February 10
Margaret Baker reports the International Ag Center in Tulare near Highway 99 will host the world’s largest agriculture expo February 10 through 12. The World Ag Expo promises more than 1,600 exhibitors showcasing the latest in farm ranch dairy and construction technology equipment and services.

Shafter Bucs Stay Undefeated In Back To Back Wins
The Shafter Bucs beat the Garces Rams 45 to 37 after a slow first quarter. Ralphie Santos scored 13 and Mickey Polley 8 to lead the top scorers while Elisha Gonzales had 6 rebounds. The Bucs then defeated Wasco Cubs 38 to 28 to push their record to 15 0 with Polley 15 and Santos 10 leading in scoring.

California's new Modified Closed Primary Law lets parties decide if nonpartisan voters may vote their party ballot. Three parties ask the Secretary of State to permit nonpartisan voting for the March 2 2004 primary. Ann K Barnett Kern County Registrar mailed postcards to nonpartisans in mail ballot precincts offering a party ballot by mail. others will receive a nonpartisan ballot if they do not participate.
