Shafter Bank Looted In Daylight Robbery
Two masked gunmen roped a 1930 Ford sedan and robbed the Shafter Bank of America near closing time. Managers Buechler and Van Noort were forced to the floor as about $3,000 in cash and silver vanished. The abandoned car was found on the Premier oil field lease and the case is tied to a recent Oildale Pharmacy robbery.

High Potato Prices Predicted Despite Increased Planting
The 1937 Agriculture Outlook from the University of California forecasts higher potato prices in the first half of 1937 despite a 25 percent rise in US acreage.
