Fatal collision on Shafter Wasco highway claims Pattison
Ray Oliver Pattison aged 42 was stabbed in the chest by a projecting radiator ornament as he walked into the path of a car driven by Jack Kliewer of Shafter on the Shafter Wasco highway. It rained hard and Kliewer was unable to see him. Pattison was killed instantly. Kliewer was absolved of blame. Pattison, a Fresno man, had recently joined work on the Hoover ranch.

Burnsal Fatality Claims Wasco Woman Mother to Local Families
Mrs W C Thomas 64 of Wasco died after third degree burns from a gas heater fire that engulfed her clothing. She leapt into bed to smother flames, then ran outside for help. The Wasco resident, mother of Mrs Norval Fair of Shafter, died five hours after the accident. Survived by husband four sons Earl Omaha Ray Sonoma Harvey Everett Las Vegas NV and daughters Mrs Glen Simpson Mrs Mabley Sitter. Funeral at Bakersfield Friday.
