Richland Christmas program features student bands and choirs
The RSD Presents The Sounds of the Season at Richland Activity Center drew hundreds of parents and students from 4th to 8th grade. Choir Director Lori Manoso and Band Director Ken Gross guided multiple choirs and a jazz band praised for professionalism while Richland PTA provided refreshments. The event highlighted the 7th and 8th grade choir partnering with the 6th grade choir for a holiday number.

Resignation Opens Shafter Planning Commission Seat
The Shafter City Council, at its December 17 2002 meeting, re appointed Jerry Ezell to the Planning Commission as seats for Ezell and Borchard were ending December 31. Borchard resigned prompting an open seat. Richland teacher James Donahue showed interest but declined a four year term starting January 1 2003. City Manager John Guinn said search for a fifth member would continue.
