Unique Touch Is Given School Play At Maple
An unnamed actor ad libbed as Amigo the parrot in the Maple School production of Amahl and the Night Visitors. Allen Osborn handled the parrot, while Annette Karber played the king role. Meantime, Frankie Fairchild acted as Amahl with other students in the ensemble. The event featured a full student cast, band performances, and PTA support with costumes, props, lighting, and stage effects coordinated by staff and students.

Maple School hosted a holiday sing along for grades K through 8 in the cafetorium with Mrs. Ramey at the piano and Mrs. Peterson directing. Santa distributed PTA treats while eighth grader Rand Bergman stood in as Santa due to illness.

Maple school students perform Christmas music for Kern Crest Manor
Third grade and fourth fifth grade students under Mrs Polowski and Miss Franz visited Kern Crest Manor to perform Christmas tunes for elderly residents. Teresa Karber played piano for Joy to the World and Caroline Nicol played flute for Away in a Manger. Audience joined in Silent Night.

Dress Code Changes Approved By Maple School Board
Maple School board approved payroll and fund transfers while granting two requests from women teachers. Janet Peterson, girls athletic coach, won relaxations allowing upper grade girls to wear can s during basketball season and teachers may wear coordinated pants suits. Normal dress will resume after activities.

Death claims Tehachapi man in holiday heart attack
Ray Trusty of Tehachapi died December 13 after a heart attack during a Thanksgiving weekend family gathering at the Wall home. Funeral services were held December 15 by the Tehachapi Masonic Lodge. He and his wife Velda had run a Tehachapi restaurant for about 20 years. survivors include his wife, a stepson Dennis Heinz, and two step-grandchildren Joel Unruh is expected for Christmas from Stillwater Oklahoma State University.

Maple eighth graders tour Kern County government meeting
Maple School eighth graders visited the Kern County Board of Supervisors meeting where Chairman Vance Webb welcomed them. The session aired on TV and Leroy Jackson offered to visit the school to speak if the students wish. Earlier the class attended a Superior Court session with Judge John Jelletich presiding over a personal injury suit.
