Community Christmas Party Welcomes 1500 Local Students
About 1,500 grammar school children from Shafter and nearby areas will attend a Christmas party at the Shafter theatre. The event, run by six local groups, features cartoons a travelogue and an Our Gang comedy on a 60 minute show. Santa Claus and volunteers will distribute gifts. two morning performances accommodate all districts.

Oliver Sly Reelected Fire Department Chief

Rio Bravo 4-H Club Elects New Officers

First Baptist Sunday school plans a Christmas program with P A Schmidt supervising and Rev. Edgar H. McAllister delivering a seasonal message. The $15,000 Wildwood school project goes to Alva Hackney & Sons of Bakersfield. The building will include two classrooms a stage a library office kitchen and storage quarters and serve as a community meeting place in addition to a school. Symmes & Willard of Bakersfield are the architects.
