Retirement Dinner for Sheriff Dodge Held in Bakersfield
Public invited to a retirement party for Sheriff Charles H. Dodge hosted by the Kern County Sheriff's Employees Welfare and Benefit Association. The event at Hilton Inn Bakersfield on January 10 features a no host cocktail hour from 6 30 to 7 30 p m followed by dinner. Tickets are 7 50 each, available at the sheriff facility information counter or by mail or phone 327 3392. Dodge ends eight year tenure and 37 years in law enforcement after starting with the Bakersfield Police Department in 1937 and retiring in 1966 to pursue the sheriff’s office.

School earns commendations and picks up recommendations
The evaluating team commended Richland School for providing a psychologist and counselor a speech therapist and nurse and the staff’s cooperative spirit and varied activities. They urged more psychologist involvement in diagnostic prescriptive work increased bilingual parent participation formalized pre school board program and faster referral followup. Deloris Witcher a 22 year employee resigned effective January to join Porterville School District. Trustees approved funds under Public Law 874 for federal installations and a resolution with the County Superintendent to plan a master plan for special education. Superintendent Evron Barber said cafeteria prices will not rise unless something drastic occurs.
