Fire destroys Shafter home due to discarded cigarette
Firefighters battled two blazes in Shafter causing 8500 dollars in damage at 184 1/2 Poso Street the Paul Condit residence. A separate fire at a Safeway Corner area caused 10000 dollars total loss with smoke and structural damage. Plans progress for Shafter bi centennial celebration
Shafter bi centennial committee members met Monday to review plans for the citys 200th birthday celebration. Representatives from two companies discussed a localized bi centennial medallion and a medallion design contest. Other topics included a kindergarten to third grade coloring contest, stationery with Setterheade scenes, and a possible Shafter museum. Key events are planned for the year, with the main celebration set between the May Festival and the Fourth of July 1976.
