Justice of the Peace court fined several individuals for drunkenness and disturbing the peace. David Veach 46 paid 100 dollars, J W Bradley 54 paid 50, Ezra Adams 35 paid 25, Roy Thompson 36 paid 50, Wm F Blattenburg 45 paid 50, with all jail terms suspended for two years. Pedro Ortiz 36 received a 350 dollar fine and 300 days, case disposition unclear. Henry E Holsomback 31 fined 150, John Jimon 47 and Robert Scroggins 37 each ordered 90 days in a road camp with 60 suspended for one year. Samuel Edwards not completed in text.
Bill Earley's orchestra provided music for dancing at the Legion the Woman's Club House event. Hazel Asel ton won a door prize radio donated by Central Hardware Co.

Members of the Shafter Chamber of Commerce endorsed national advertising for Shafter at a Friday noon meeting in the Shafter Motel. Dr. O. G. Ohlsson presided in President Stoller’s absence as Earl Weil reported the completion and forthcoming dedication of the new Boy Scout building for December 29.

An ambulance driver aided an expectant mother at a South Labor Camp early Monday morning delivering a infant daughter at 5 15 am. Bristow alerted a physician and both mother Mrs Gregoria Albarado and her baby were moved to Kern General Hospital Bakersfield where the infant is in an incubator. Mother and child are reported satisfactory and Bristow returned to duty.
City firefighters responded to a trailer fire at the corner of Central Avenue and Santa Fe Street Monday morning causing property damage. The incident involved a partial collapse of the trailer and prompted investigation by local authorities.
Two Shafter men, Johnnie W. Worley and Mike J. Slivkoff, collided head on and side swiped while driving toward Wasco on the Central Valley Highway near a Santa Fe crossing. Slivkoff escaped his demolished Studebaker before a southbound freight struck, with Worley sustaining major injuries and taken to Kern General Hospital.
The Shafter High School Bucks beat Standard Grammar School 35 to 17 last Friday in the school gym. W. L. Prince led scoring with 11 points and Don Harris added 6. Starting lineup included Prince Harris Nixon Beach Merz with limited practice time for Mr Heber.
