About 426 Kern county potato growers at Richland school auditorium selected a Potato Administrative Committee under Farm Advisor Lindsay. Adolph Kirschenmann Woods Stone L. W. Kummerfeld named as committee members with E C Eckman and Wm Lachenmaier Jr as alternates. Deputy Longfellow to head the potato department. First meeting planned in Bakersfield.

The Third Area American Legion holds a two day spring conference in Bakersfield on April 18 and 19 announced by Jack Isaac of Shafter, Kern County commander. The event brings several hundred Legionnaires and Auxiliary members from southern San Joaquin valley counties to the region. Local posts in the county will participate in events and Shafter post plans hosting groups during or after the conference.

Infant Buttonwillow Child Called Beyond
Robert seven year old son of Mr and Mrs Marion Dunham of Buttonwillow died last Saturday in a Bakersfield hospital. He is survived by his parents two brothers a sister his grandparents and several aunts and uncles in southern San Joaquin valley. Funeral services were held from a Bakersfield funeral parlor Monday morning and interment was in Union cemetery.

A new double oven and roaster, built of heavy sheet steel and weighing just over a thousand pounds, were installed Friday in the Spud Cafe baking room. The unit, heated by gas, enables the baking of 54 standard pies at once with two stacked ovens each having individual burners.
