Funeral services for Peggy Sue Penner infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Delmer R Penner were held at Shafter Funeral Home. Born October 11 1948 the infant died of natural causes in Kern General Hospital last Friday. Survivors include the parents a brother Don two sisters Geraldean and Shirl and the grandparents Sam Penner and Mr and Mrs Jim Davis. Rev B E Andrews officiated and burial was in Shafter Cemetery.

Local Legion to Meet War Dead Flud at Santa Fe Depot
The local Légionnaires will meet Flud’s remains on the southbound train at the Santa Fe depot at 6 47 p m. Flud, a Shafter resident, died at 22 from enemy sniper fire in the Italian campaign on September 17 1944. A graveside service will be held tomorrow at 2 o’clock in Shafter Cemetery, Rev Sam Wilcoxon officiating. Surviving are eight brothers and two sisters.
