Shafter weighs curbing liquor licenses citywide
City of Shafter weighs a cap on liquor licenses after Councilman Don Zachary urged exploring the legality and impact. The 10,700-population city has 26 licensed outlets, with 12 on site and 14 off site, prompting study of similar ordinances through the League of California Cities library. Protests over ABC applications, including Economy Food Mart, fuel discussion of limits and moratoriums while officials review precedents and effects on local businesses.
