Recycling drive boosts home bins in Shafter area
Dana Schili reports for The Shafter Press on California's drop in state recycling from 82 percent in 1992 to 74 percent last year. The DOC plans more convenient home and roadside bins, with green yellow and red logos at spots like The Apple Market and Budget Food Mart. Local recycler Nancy Pierce, a 20 year veteran, emphasizes easier access and using earned funds for office parties. The goal remains to raise the rate to 80 percent by expanding CRV containers for beverages and other items.
