Los Angeles plans for Pacific 21 an eight acre Century City exhibit running June 16 to September 19 1976 endorsed by the American Revolution Bicentennial Administration with nine Pacific nations reserving space and international conferences slated for August. More than 3 000 000 visitors expected across three zones Heritage Park Horizons Pavilion and Festival Plaza featuring space frame exhibits cultural showcases and an open air theatre program.

Shafter Sees First Rainfall Of Season Amid Winds

Shafter recorded .02 inches of precipitation Monday evening as a brief shower accompanied by a strong wind. A downed tree hit a power line, cutting electricity to the business district for about an hour. Cooler air followed with a high of 84, while daytime highs ranged from 90 to 98 earlier in the week. Data from the USDA Cotton Research Station lists weekly high and low readings.

Shatter Press Raises Newsstand Price to 15 Cents

The Shatter Press will raise its newsstand and paper carrier price from 10 to 15 cents effective Wednesday September 3. The increase aligns with regional rises as the paper seeks higher income for carriers. City files injunction against Warner over Shafter cable cut split

Warner Cable of Kern County withdrew threats to suspend Shafter cable Friday amid a fight over a proposed rate increase. A hearing on the injunction was set for next Monday in Kern County Superior Court as Wasco faces a similar suit. Warner suspended notices and will keep service running until August 25 while negotiations continue.
