At 1 50 a m Sunday officers Odie Miller and E C Williams stopped a Lerdo Beech car with a dragging tail pipe. Driver Alberto Villanueva lacked a license. six marijuana packages were found after a suspect dropped a bag and a shirt with drugs. Also named are Hans Christensen Fernando DeLa Cruz Raul Villanueva and a juvenile. Victims were arraigned in Bakersfield court Tuesday with a citation for Villanueva for driving without a license.

Mason in Accident While Avoiding Deer Near Hearst Castle
Fred R. Mason 40 of Shafter crashed his 1964 Barracuda on the old highway half a mile south of Santa Rosa creek bridge after swerving to dodge a buck. He escaped serious injury with bruises and loosened teeth. X rays showed no broken bones. Mason was en route to bring his wife Harriett home from Reno after summer school. Funeral services for James Henry Smith drew more than three hundred mourners at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Pentecostal Church of God with Rev. Wayne Owen and Brother Jewell Rose presiding. He lived in Shafter after selling the Shafter Shoe Shop on James Street. Pallbearers included Jim Ball Jess Carr Danny Johnson Albert Carter Harvey Mizell Ray Fortenberry T. B.
