Highway Patrol warns of phony fundraising scams across California
California residents report phone solicitations for donations to the CHP Widows and Orphans Fund and related groups. CHP Commissioner Mike Brown states the department and its fund do not solicit funds by phone, mail, Internet, or in person. Some calls originate from Canada. two scam types include false CHP fund appeals and claims from the Association of Highway Patrols.
