Shafter Master Storm Drain funding approved in final budget
Kern County supervisors bayed final third of funding for the Shafter Master Storm Drain, 973000 project slated to start next May and finish by 1987 summer. Five acres have been bought for the sump. Shafter pays 223000 from state subvention. Also approved 617000 for land for Shafter Wasco Justice Court and 169800 for design of the Shafter Wasco Administration and Courts Complex.

Bill Camp, 92, Farm Pioneer and Advocate in Bakersfield
Bill Camp, a renowned farmer and agricultural advocate born March 14, 1894 in South Carolina, died at Bakersfield hospital in 1986. He helped California cotton growers develop the Acala strain, rehabilitated foreclosed farms for Bank of America, and championed clean seed potatoes. Survived by two wives, J.D.
