Death notices for Leanna Aguilera and Richard Chavez
Leanna Judith Aguilera died at five days old in Bakersfield CA from medical complications of Trisomy 18. Her funeral and visitation were at St Francis Church in Shafter with burial at Shafter Memorial Park. Richard Estrada Chavez, Cesar Chavez’s brother, died July 27 2011 at age 81 in a Bakersfield hospital after leg bypass surgery. Services included a candlelight procession to 40 Acres Delano and an all day vigil and Mass at 40 Acres, with family remembrances from Dolores Huerta and others.

Barbara Caroline Grundt born February 11, 1920 in Washington DC, taught in California and later in Wasco California. She was active in church and 4 H, led crafts and Sunday school programs, named Wasco Mother of the Year in 1957, survived by children Jim, George, Judy and spouses, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and sister-in-law Mercedes Daley. Memorials to local churches or Wasco groups. A memorial service is planned for Wasco First United Methodist Church.
