Festival Barbecue Plans Progress at Legion Post Meeting

Annual Flower Show Showcases Broad Floral Display in Shafter
Shafter community members attended the annual spring flower show staged by the Wednesday Afternoon Club at the Woman's Club House. The event featured diverse arrangements with many awards, led by Mrs. Harold Greene as grand stakes winner. Winners spanned large and small arrangements, dry and unusual designs, miniatures, children's pieces, and numerous categories, plus Richland School entries. Oil paintings by Sam Hyde Harris were displayed, with arrangements by Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Eckman.

Concert Association Member Drive Ends Tomorrow
The Wasco Shafter Community Concert Association drive for 1949 50 memberships ends tomorrow at noon. Members may apply via Shafter Mercantile or Mrs. Arthur Hemingson. After closing, the executive board will select next season concerts with a New York City representative, based on memberships sold. Joining members gain concert access in any U S city. Nearby communities Delano Porterville Taft host fall events including Don Cossack Choir Solveig Lande and Albreed Kent. A kickoff dinner offers guest tickets at two dollars per concert.
