Huge Band Concert Presentation Friday
Final preparations are underway for the annual spring concert by Shafter High School band and Glee Club in the high school gymnasium at 8 o'clock this Friday. Ag Students Sell Stock After Show
At the Grand National Junior Livestock Show in San Francisco last week twelve Hereford steers were exhibited and sold at current prices. Dewayne Neufeld won two prizes, Waylon Sturges two, Ray Koenig one, and Bill Blattenberg two firsts and a second. Everett Eyrand’s entry earned a first and a third. Prize money totaled $185 with firsts at $20, seconds at $15, and thirds at $10.

City Resuscitator Crew Revives Woman At Labor Camp

Judging for the Potato Festival poster contest will start Thursday morning at 10 and posters from Richland, Maple, Rio Bravo, and Lerdo schools will be on display all day at the Woman’s Clubhouse. Fight at Smith Corner Ends in Severe Head Wounds
Arthur Holloway Thompson suffered deep head lacerations after a Hollywood style one punch fight at Smith Corner bar. Moran, who was not intoxicated, struck Thompson with a beer can in the temple, sending him to a local doctor. Police booked Thompson for drunkenness and disturbing the peace, Moran for assault and battery and disturbing the peace.

Mrs Flaming longtime resident dies at 59 in Hawthorne
Mrs Katherine Flaming aged 59 died Thursday. Final rites were held Monday at 2 30 p m in the Mennonite Brethren church Hawthorne with Rev P N Hiebert officiating. Burial followed at Shafter Cemetery. Survived by husband George B Flaming four brothers and one sister. Born in McPherson Kansas she moved across several states before settling in Shafter in 1917.

The annual Shafter Civic Flower Show sponsored by the Wednesday Afternoon Club takes place today April 19 at the Woman’s Club House from 2 30 to 5 30 and 7 to 9 p m.
