Stella Lee Martin Funeral Held in Wasco

Funeral services for Stella Lee Martin were held Saturday at Robert L. Jones Funeral Home in Wasco. Born October 27, 1889 in Arkansas, she moved with family to Wasco three years ago. Survived by husband John W. Martin five sons Homer Homer Martin Shafter Paul Taft Roy Ventura Levi Bakersfield Francis Washington and two daughters Martha McGill Los Angeles Mamie Menees Wasco. Burial followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park Bakersfield with Reverend Kenneth Voth officiating.

B P W Holds Annual Dinner

The Business and Professional Women held their annual party dinner at the Bakersfield Inn. Barbara Lee and Florence Smith reported on Senior Girls Day and the Blue Bird party. Helene Hobson chaired with Lorain Gaede Bertha Jantzen on the committee. Helen Holmes presided. May 1 at Shafter Motel will elect officers.

James Andrew Parker Dies in Wasco at 43

James Andrew Parker brother of Mrs. Lillian Hughes of Shafter died April 18 in Wasco. Funeral services were Sunday at Jones Chapel Wasco with Rev Kenneth Voth officiating and burial at Union Cemetery Bakersfield. He lived in the state six years two weeks in Wasco worked as a laborer for Poso Land and Produce Company Ranch. Survivors include his mother Mrs Amanda Parker and three other sisters all of Texas.

Shower Given For Mrs Ida Jones Moves From Neighborhood

In her honor a handkerchief shower was hosted at the Buller home. Guests included Mrs Ida Jones, Mrs John Gaede, Mrs Maud Bell, Mrs Sara Weddel, Mrs Margie Smart, Barbara Brannan, Mrs Henley and Mrs Crafton. Ice cream with fresh strawberries was served.
