Seniors Prepare for Graduation at SHS in 1965
The SHS senior class of 1965 gears up for commencement with plans for a Disneyland trip and various rituals. They will vote on flower girls and gown colors, replace a banquet with a barbecue, rehearse baccalaureate, and practice marching drills before receiving diplomas on graduation night.

Fire Department Reports Losses in First Quarter
Shafter Fire Department reports 11 fire calls in the first 90 days with total losses of 2925 dollars. The major loss 2500 dollars stemmed from a structure fire caused by children playing with matches. Five other structure fires totaled 50 dollars in loss. Auto mobile fires and 375 dollars in other losses. One false alarm. Paid firefighters averaged 2 1 3 per call and volunteers averaged 10. Four calls involved resuscitator assistance and 39 burning permits were issued.

First CCD Workshop planned at Garces Memorial High School

Services Held for L. R. Gregory of Rosedale Area
Funeral services for Lee Richard Gregory 67 of 2211 Dean Avenue were held Monday April 12 at Greenlawn. He died April 9 in a Bakersfield hospital after a long illness. He was a World War I and II veteran and had lived in Kern County 15 months. Survivors include widow Edith M two daughters Marie Lawnson Florida and Bonnie Gregory of the home, a son Lee Richard Gregory II, three sisters and two brothers in California Tennessee.
