Pacific Youth Meet Hosts by Shafter Mennonite Church
Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church hosts the fifth annual Pacific District Youth Conference next weekend drawing about 500 high school students from Washington Oregon and California and Kern County. Vernon L. McLellan will speak on So Send You at the morning session and banquet. Registration starts Friday April 7 at 6 PM with a Hottenanny at the high school gym. Saturday events include a morning rally and lunch served by the church committee. Delegates will also discuss a new project including $4500 for a Brazil church, $3000 for seminary students, and $1500 to start a film library.

Ketchum Committee to Meet in Bakersfield Thursday

Bids Opened for Shafter Road Project Near Bakersfield
Bids will be opened in Sacramento on May 3 for a Kern County FAS project on Seventh Standard Road from Shafter Avenue area. The 6 mile route between Enos Lane and Santa Fe Way will be graded and paved with asphalt concrete two 12 foot lanes and two 6 foot shoulders. Project designed by County personnel with CE support. expects start around June 5, 1967 and completion in 120 days. Total funds $443,000 with FAS $249,682 State match $24,960 and County $168,358.
