Adventists elect black head for North America Division
Charles E. Bradford was chosen by the General Conference Committee to head the North American Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church becoming the first black person in the post. The 53-year-old Bradford replaces Neal C. Wilson and will lead about 550,000 Adventists in the United States and Canada. Bradford previously served as associate secretary for the General Conference and led the Lake Region Conference from 1961 to 1970.
