Colonels Break Three Records at Madern Track Meet
Last Saturday the Colonels won class B events and broke three records. Curly Brade cleared 6 feet 1 8 inches in high jump while Brad Ford tied for first in pole vault at 11 feet with Bill Schacht. The 440 relay of Schacht Florez Boney Dunningan won in 45.1 meet record. Schacht set 160 low hurdles record of 18.5 and placed fifth in the century.

Janzen Heads Cancer Drive in Shafter
Jack F. Janzen was named 1958 Shafter Crusade chair, with outside area chair Charles Webster Jr. The city quota is 1250 dollars, and Janzen expects the community to meet it. Heart Attack Fatal to Father of Benny Grundy
Jesse Lee Grundy, 82, of Quitaque Texas father of Councilman G H Ben Grundy died Sunday at home after a heart attack. Funeral rites were held Tuesday in Texas attended by the Shafterman. He is survived by his widow Cora eight sons two daughters 18 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
