A nitro glycerin explosion blew a safe at the Kroger grocery on West Second Street Sunday night. A small amount of money was taken while a 100 pound sugar sack hid against the door to muffle the blast. Chief Julius Harlow noted experts pried the rear door and carried off the safe door, with fingerprints unlikely due to multiple handlers. Similarities to a Crothersville Briner store case were observed.

State Policeman Hurt in Motorcycle Accident

Man Fined Under New Indiana Statute

Buck brothers go on trial for kidnaping in Barnstable
In Barnstable Mass on June 12 Kenneth and Cyril Buck of Harwichport face trial for the May 12 kidnapping of 10 year old Margaret Peggy McMath. The jury will be drawn from a special venue of merchants farmers and fishermen. Peggy is expected to testify as the state's chief witness about the abduction from school and ransom payment of 60 000 dollars to her prosperous boatbuilder father. The ransom was later recovered. The defense claims two other unnamed men were the real conspirators and that Kenneth Buck acted as a tool. The brother says his role was merely intermediary in returning the child to her parents.
