Freight Cars Derailed After Track Repair Near Walesboro
A broken wheel caused seven cars of the S. C. 11 freight train between Jeffersonville and Indianapolis to derail and overturn one mile south of Walesboro early today. The incident damaged 350 feet of track, but most cargo including merchandise and canned goods remained largely intact. Two night passenger trains were rerouted via North Vernon and mail service from Seymour was delayed until the trains resumed.

Batteries A and C of the Third Field Artillery began another leg of their night march toward Fort Knox Kentucky to escape the heat. HiJacked Truck Found Near Rushville After Kidnapping
A large Ziffrin Trucking Company semi loaded with 200 cases of cigarettes was hijacked on U S Route 31 north of Seymour. It was found near Arlington on U S Route 52 northwest of Rushville. Driver Fred Pritchett of Indianapolis was released near Shelbyville after being kidnapped. Salary value of cargo set at $8,000. Stolen license plates were attached to the truck by the kidnapers.
