Des Moines man shoots wife then kills himself in Klondike area
A disturbance over separation led Dennis Sweeney and State Inspector Joeney to chase Mrs Emyeeney to Orville where Sweeney fired a shot striking her before fleeing. He later killed himself as onlookers managed to pull the wounded woman to safety and await help amid a chaotic scene. The incident appears tied to personal estrangement and jealous rage rather than any public crime.
