High School Meet Captured by Ackley in Grand Cup Event
The Hardin County Athletic Association held its second annual field meet on a perfect day with Ackley winning the silver cup. Eldora led early, but Ackley finished with 39 points to Eldora 32 and Hubbard 27, followed by New Providence and Alden. Events included sprints, distance runs, hurdles, throws, and jumps, with Goettel, Manning, and Hinshaw among top scorers. The girls’ basketball match ended Ackley 12 Alden 13, and the Industrial school band provided music as officials and attendees praised a well-organized, festive meet.

Fourteenth Sunday School Convention Opens Counties Meet
The 14th annual county Sunday school association convention convened for a two day session amid an average turnout. Key talks covered The Bible, Bible study methods, and Bible as a personal influence, with papers on Old Testament books and the scholars name study. Officers were elected including President J B Griffith and Secretary Lesta Kersey.

New Baby Expected as Child Tells Teacher
A Pipersburg student confidentially whispered to a teacher that a new baby would soon arrive at home. The teacher asked where the baby would come from and the child quipped that the previous one was ordered from Montgomery Ward and Co. but the mother did not say where this one would be sent. The note ends with an ad line about low prices for storm sash and prompt service from Davis and Moser.
