The Herald offers a liberal incentive for Hardin county visitors as the World’s Fair begins in St Louis. Officials warn early viewing isn’t ideal since many exhibits aren’t in place yet and suggest waiting two weeks. Reverend G W Moore of Nashville speaks at the Congregational church Friday at 8 pm free to all. Mme Tsilka will address the congregation May 15. Other notes mention a beautified Baptist parsonage porch and local real estate loan offers from J D Newcomer. Warner’s Congregational garden plot is being prepared for seasonal vegetables.

Seaton of Hubbard was in town yesterday and will be joined by Mrs. Greer later with an automobile. Hon. W.J. Moir and Prest J. H. Bales of the First National Bank attend the congressional convention in Waterloo as Hardin county delegates. H. J. Manning of Hubbard, rural mail carrier and township assessor, was in town Monday. Capt. and Mrs. A. C. Harris left for Brookings S. D. to visit their son Dr. Harris. Lawyer Frank W. Crockett of Des Moines was in town Saturday. E. H. Lundy went to Kansas on business. Miss Ora Scales and Miss Ada Taylor of Ackley were Eldora visitors Saturday. Lawyer Scales of Ackley was in town.
William St. Plummer, lieutenant at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, spent several days in the city and at the State Industrial School recruiting youths for the United States Army for three years of enlistment. He secured a number of young men for service.
Neighborhood gossip from Eldora Junction notes Mrs. R W Caster clerking in Lannons store and Miss Jennie Cobb visiting home, with several locals at a quarterly Gilford meeting and a large crowd at an Eastern Star event. D Patterson dies at his East Alden home, shocking community due to his unexpected illness.
Dr G A Stewart dentist visited his parents here Sunday while J L Hackett and family from Chester traveled to relatives. Miss Neva Martin of Eldora attended the funeral of her little cousin. The road boss's return is hoped to fix conditions. C V Hauser and family of Whitten and Frank Rhodes and family of Grant township visited G W Rhodes Sunday. Funeral for Ruth Engle, two and a half, interred at Honey Creek Cemetery. Brick for sale at The Crescent Lumber Company.

The county is told there is no foundation to rumors that Mrs Margaret Clark exonerated the Rainsbargers from killing her former husband. Eve Johnson Rolla Clark, her daughter, confirms she heard nothing and stayed with her mother during her illness, which ended with stupor in the final days.
Radcliffe Iowa man Harry Himmellman appeared before U S Commissioner W H Johnson on a liquor sales without license charge and was bound over to the grand jury. Unable to post bond he was sent to Cedar Rapids. Deputy Marshal Mike Healy and G F Gustafson described the dramatic scene when the accused asked for a dollar and surprised the officer by revealing the warrant and his own arrest.
