A Herald interview with Mrs. Kate Fagg uncovers spring and Easter hat fashions. Tilted brims with floral garnishes, torpedo and diamond hats, Polo turbans, and tailored designs lead the season with onion and burnt onion colors alongside greens and lilacs.
The play For Her Sake features Olga the heroine in a flogging scene described as gripping with heart interest. The author balances the intensity with lighter comedy scenes. It will be presented at the Wisner Opera House on Friday, April 7.
Frances Miller and Jesse T Walton wed at the bride’s parents’ home on March 16 1908. Rev L E Gallagher officiated before a lace canopy ceremony. guests included Ellet Lepley Homer Haworth and others. The couple plans a California tour and will reside on a Lawn Hill area farm after returning. Northern Seed Wheat mentioned at Eldora Rolter Mills.
Court resumed work and began a jury trial in Adams versus Sheldon with the judge directing a verdict for the defendant after finding no priority of contract. The term heard mandamus requests, several five year permit applications, and multiple divorce and civil judgments, including State Bank of Iowa Fails versus Bremmer and Steere for 874.67 plus costs. A recommitment hearing for Gertrude Johnson was dismissed after testimony. Grand jury indictments included W S Hayward for assault with intent. A bank ad offers high yields on three to four percent deposits.
The Herald reports a move to consolidate independent school districts in Republic, Chester, Honey Creek, Glenwood, Fairview, Midland, and Hopedale in Providence township. A meeting of district electors is set for April 1 to vote on forming one central district near the township's south two-thirds. The paper notes potential educational gains and cost savings, with students gaining access to a high school course nearby. Names listed include Meno Harmscseeeeee Cleves, Anna Krull, Cleves W. T.Lotton Buckeye, Nellie B. Cooper, Jesse T. Walton, and Eldora Frances Miller.
J B Cruzan notes gains in 1905 with one new school of 4 teachers and 42 pupils and two reorganized schools. He aided 56 Sunday schools with 357 teachers and 4,100 pupils, plus 17 schools with 83 teachers and 1,452 scholars. He delivered 107 sermons, distributed 158 Bibles, visited 2,020 homes, sold $50 worth of literature, and saw 10 conversions. A rural tabernacle drive yielded a new school and conversions, lifting community morals. Eldora March 1, 1905.

Oscar Berven an 11 year old of Radcliffe died after falling into a tub of scalding water prepared for the family wash. He was playing in the kitchen with relatives when the accident occurred. Medical help was given but could not save him. A doctor from Emergeney hospital treated the boy before his death.
Keen was the prevalent color last Friday. Donald Lewis and John Fowler made a business trip to Union Saturday. Wal Hardin, who is attending Grinnell, visited his parents here. The Senior class selected and ordered pins to arrive soon. Ervin Devendorf, class of 1903, home from Cornell College Mt Vern on for vacation, says the orchestra is very fine and all should hear it.
