W. S. Porter and Portner have obtained a large irrigation ditch contract in Idaho. The brief item notes the marriage of popular local youths and links the couple with the significant regional project.
Lawyer W A Porter of Hubbard and Miss Bessie Janeway of Newton were married at the bride’s Newton home last Sunday. They will reside in Hubbard where Porter is building a lucrative practice. Both are praised as worthy young people.
The wedding occurred at the Jahnson home on Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock with a small gathering of relatives. Both JBales and Jahnson are praised for their upbringing and public regard. A gift from the groom's father, President J H Bales of the First National Bank, included a check for 1000 dollars.

Porter and daughter Hortense will spend summers in a Colorado mountain resort and return west with Mr Porter to Boise City Idaho where his office is. John Lamprecht recently graduated from Iowa State University with high honors and is now a practicing lawyer, arriving in town Tuesday and likely to stay through the summer. He is described as bright and studious, expected to become a successful lawyer.
D J Fitch of Union was arrested by Officer Edgar and charged with an attempted incident involving Blanche Bates, seven, at 6508 South Fifth Street. Bates alleges Fitch put hands on her in an outbuilding. Fitch denies the charge. Fitch, held by Bates, pled not guilty at arraignment in Justice Peek's court. hearing set for this afternoon.
