Wedding of Simon H Boeke and Ada Frederick at Buckeye
The wedding occurred at the bride's parents home near Buckeye at 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with about 50 guests. Rev P Hoeppner officiated. The bride wore white silk and the couple received many presents before planning a visit to Oceyed with relatives. Local guests from Hubbard included H S Boeke August Boeke Will Hoelscher Ed Lehmeier and Gus Boeke and families Mrs Herman Boeke and Will Henry and Minnie Boeke. Gus Nisson of Gladbrook attended from a distance. Simon Boeke and his wife are well known here and friends extend congratulations. Hubbard Monitor notes Ten Nights in a Bar Room will be a tented attraction in Eldora July 10. Old but good.

Pleasant township contest honors in arithmetic and spelling
At the Pleasant township event held June 26 the top marks went to Saying Tables from Sevens Titros to Fifteens by Mary Richard Emma Roll Willie Brown Lois Palmer. Elmer Palmer Lottie Stage Mary Richard in the teen arithmetic. Mary Richard Lottie Stage Elmer Palmer Emma Roll led the oral spelling. About thirty attended. Mrs. Jennie Allen again serves Allen ice cream at her parlor across from the opera house.

Eldora Electric Light Rates Cut by New Management

Ann Hockett wife of the late Jonathan S. Hockett dies at her son J. L. Hockett's home aged 73. Born May 24 1832 in Randolph county Indiana she moved to Fenry county in 1838 and married J. S. Hackett in 184%. She was a Friends church member known for steadfast faith. Funeral held at Chester Friends church conducted by Rev. R R Newby. She leaves a son and family among others. Burial beside her husband followed.
