The Herald notes sickness in town, new ownership at Lawn Hill lumber yard, and a series of local happenings. Died: J H Coulter of Iowa Falls. Measles spring back to school. A big fire at Rowan, Wright county, with substantial losses. Cemetery society meeting, court docket at Story County, and local business changes.
Eldora residents and visitors are listed as coming and going. Individuals include Jnc V Boylan, Mrs C A Davis, Miss Elva Greer, Samuel Fagan and wife, S. & Lathrop, Jos Satchell, E H Lundy, Mrs S B Lockwood and son Harry, Mr and Mrs Will J Sanderson, A P Mason, Mrs C E Albrook, Mrs S G Conger, and Mark J Furry. The Herald seeks more correspondents in Hubbard Radcliffe Union and nearby towns to report local items and notices.
District court did not convene until after supper Monday as Judge Richard and his reporter arrived by the 6:30 O N W train. It adjourned to 8:30 Tuesday, with DMLE Ny Ry vs Tungland and Weirds vs Vier slated for trial first. Grand jurors arrived and began sessions after instructions. trial jurors report Wednesday morning.

Joe’s Alden friends wish him success in his new venture. Post office succession discussed as Mr Hartinger’s term nears end. many young men seek appointment, with Congressman Birdsall to decide.
Two Hussey boys and relatives of Play Brown entered grades on Monday. Seventy copies of music sheets for high school use arrived Monday. Ralphi Reece and Lois Gibson returned to school Monday after weeks away. Robert Higginbotham recovered from measles and resumed classes. A field meet may be held in May after a Waterloo letter to Track Manager Meyer. no action yet. Semester exams are next week for students with high averages or low demerits. Prof. Hunt plans special opening exercises each Monday morning with scripture reading by Rev. Stanley and prayer by Rev. Warner, followed by a male quartet performance and a talk by Rev. Stanley.
The Herald editor's family at 47 Master Paul Smith endured a scare as Paul Smith, a boy at The Herald editor's home, was kept from school last week after a small darning needle punctured the lower left thigh when he sat on a cushioned chair. He received medical treatment and returned to school by Monday morning, though he limped.

Miss Hoyt the evangelist visited W B Rash’s late last week.

The Lawn Hill post office was discontinued weeks ago and patrons now travel to New Providence for mail. Postmaster officials have ordered a carrier from Eldora on route four to serve the following residents as soon as possible: Ed Foster Geo McDonald Alex Quiggle Rev Ramige Henry Peon G W Beecher Wm Perry Carrie Hayden L J Lundy Geo Elerding.
