Hardin County Educators Hold Large Eldora Meeting
The Hardin County Educational Association met in Eldora on February 19 and 20. Deputy State Superintendent J C Bennett spoke at length on issuing and renewing teachers certificates and the duties of the County Superintendent regarding state reports. Great credit is given to the pupils of the school.

O G Campbell Suicide Listed in Eldora Blast From Past
Eldora received word on Monday that Owen Campbell formerly in the restaurant trade here and later a foreman at an Industrial school shop shot himself at Blairstown Benton County. He had recently been traveling after selling his business and had marital difficulties, drifting with little funds before the tragedy. Campbell was a Mason and had worked as a blacksmith prior to leaving the shop role.

Funeral of Dr William C Tracy in Erie Pa
Former Steamboat Rock resident Dr William Clinton Tracy died at his Erie home age 75 after a long career as a physician. Born 1838 in Wattsburg he studied at Andover and Harvard Medical School and served in the Civil War. He married Anna Rockwood in Union City in 1866 and is survived by his widow, daughter Ruby, and brothers Henry and Andrew. Burglars Visit Eldora Citywide Homes
Burglars entered several homes in Eldora Sunday night and carried away watches and jewelry, with multiple residences affected in the city and vicinity. Police investigated the burglaries as a series of unconnected break ins across different blocks.

The Eldora area held enthusiastic county meetings with teachers from the county and Industrial School visiting on Friday. Geo H Betts of Cornell College delivered “The Schools of Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” at the M E church, followed by refreshments for the teachers. The Saturday program continued with praise for Supt Hezzlewood and Miss Scurry.

January payrolls at Iowa Central Railway rise in Marshalltown
Iowa Central Disburse records show $37 682.10 paid to employees in Marshalltown for January. Through Avente H McCarl, the railroad reports January 1909 payroll at $87 682 10, up from $25 217 75 a year earlier, an increase of $12 434 35. The month’s pay is the second largest in the company’s history, behind December 1908’s $38 550 53.
