A double wedding occurred Wednesday evening February 17 at eight o clock at the home of Mr and Mrs 5 J Upton four miles east of Eldora. The ceremony united two brides with Miss Upton aunt of Miss Lepley in attendance. A plentiful wedding feast followed along with a social hour and many useful and beautiful presents including two sewing items.

The February National Magazine notes John C. Crockett of Eldora Iowa was appointed reading clerk of the U S Senate after over fifty applications. Proceeds to lecture fund. no reserved-seat charge.

Marriage notices for Bessie I Reed and Clayton Baker, Eldora Edna Lepley, Robt L Kline, Ella C Waddell, and Gifford connections indicate upcoming weddings in a small community. names and initials suggest multiple unions under local licensing records.
National figures port and others of reputation will attend a Des Moines conference held in the city auditorium. The event opens with a large banquet and is expected to attract over 2000 men. Friday afternoon at the high school featured a Lincoln program with five senior orations and period music. An audience of G A R, W R C members, friends and relatives attended the event and the ninth grade prepared a George Eliot dramatic piece, Silas Marner.
