The Iowa governor invites Civil War veterans and color bearers to assist in moving battle flags to new cases at the state capitol in Des Moines on Wednesday August 10 1905 at 10 o clock a.m. Adjutant General Newman reports wide veteran group participation. M W Nelson Fortieth Iowa veteran will again bear the flag. Work on four new flag cases advances in the capitol rotunda. A Roosevelt portrait in a star frame remains in place behind lathing.

I H Noble visited from Eldora on business and Co QC Ryan came from Elora. A Woodmen picnic is planned for Alden next Tuesday as several farmers plan to visit Washington to view land. H B Gogerty and Elwood bought the Frederick farm five miles south of town. Epworth League hosted a reception at Rev Barsalou's home Monday evening enjoyed by members and friends.
Pleasant Ridge reports near completion of sifesiting in Coty. Amanda Walton was taken Quite a Sunday morning. Harvest jubilee attended at Union this week. Xenia cemetery society met at Jennie Whitney home Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. John Presnail Marshalltown spent weekend with Jennie Whitney. Mrs. Laura Ingram returns home after over three months in Steamboat Rock caring for Mrs. Jane Leigh. Mae Thomas, visiting friends, returns to Atlanta via Marshalltown stopover.
East Side residents and neighbors list visits to Gifford Eldora and Eldora events. Mrs. Allan Putman shows improvement after a period of illness. School directors prepare for fall term starting in September. Weather limits attendance at Sunday quarterly meeting. B A Davis and wife of Whitten travel to Epworth League Conference. Davis and Moser seek Wheeler screen orders and favorable prices.
R P Hughes shipped a carload of hogs from Hughes last week. GC P Hussey of Eldora was in the vicinity on business. Epworth League delegates from this area attended the Eldora convention. Mrs Larson and two Minneapolis visitors have returned home. Funeral for Myrtle Hayden Sanford drew a large crowd. she was Wallen Hayden’s daughter and left a husband and a four year old daughter. An ice cream festival at C W Townsends raised about seven dollars for Epworth League and Sunday school song books. Hollister's Rocky Mountain Tea advertised with a money back guarantee by Start Drug Co.
C D Greene of Spencer visited here early this week. Miss Myra L Hadley spent time with her brother during Sunday hearing. Mrs Edith Beacher Crossley of Randall visits her parents north of town. Mrs Ada Leywad of Germania returns after a prolonged stay. Rev and Mrs R R Newby take a vacation exploring sites across the state. Mrs C C Nestlerode and daughter Mary of Fostoria Ohio attend land interests northeast of town. Mr and Mrs J J Wood, Mr and Mrs Henry Butler, Dr and Mrs Lowder, and Mr and Mrs George Wood with daughter Elma depart for Portland on Thursday. L V Carter resigns as public school principal to join Grant school in Oskaloosa. the move comes without his seeking it.
Myrtie Hayden Sanford, born April 7, 1875 in Hardin County Iowa, dies in Beulah Colorado from consumption after a long illness. Survived by husband A G Sanford and a young daughter, with siblings and relatives mourning at Berlin cemetery funeral led by Rev. Stanley and Rev. Baltz. Card of thanks from A G Sanford and relatives.
