An immense crowd at Wisner Tuesday night greeted Lorado Taft, famed sculptor from the Art Institute of Chicago. The opera house overflowed with ticket holders and about two hundred Normal Institute teachers in session. Taft entertained and educated, showcasing clay modeling and busts with Plague-clay, and the lecture was praised as a genuine success.
The Iowa Central will offer excursion tickets at one fare round trip for the Des Moines fair Aug 21 29 valid to Aug 31. The note includes a moral poem on life and death and reports the death of Glen A Marks aged thirteen, with funeral details and tributes from family and teachers.
Miss Mabel Foster, daughter of janitor Foster, was riding a bicycle down a hill on Tuesday when her wheel hit a stone. L J Spur gin of Eldora found a woman fleeing a neighbor’s home in Providence township. Detected inside was a former Independence asylum inmate once discharged as cured. The resident allegedly fired a shotgun at the kitchen stove pipe, causing damage as the fleeing woman and others departed.
The report recalls a dispute about what should be shot next, ending with no handshake. Mr Spurgin led a demented woman to her husband at work, then both left the area, per the Alden Times. The rest is a jumble of ads and agricultural notes including crop bulletin and rail excursion details.
