Boy fatally shot by accidental rifle discharge near Iowa river
Glenn Marks, about thirteen, was killed yesterday afternoon when a 22 caliber rifle discharged during a camping outing with boys near the Marks pasture along the Iowa river, 24 miles south of town. The gun misfired while attempting to load, the shot struck him in the abdomen, and he died before his father could reach the scene.

The period began dry and very warm then benefited by showers and cooler days. Week ended warm with sporadic heavy rains. Four days of good harvest weather improved progress though hay and grain harvest mostly complete outside northern areas. Hay crop very heavy and well preserved. Threshing wheat oats barley underway with mixed yields, generally below average for spring grains. Corn made good progress after timely showers,需 warmer weather to mature. Potatoes rot damage reported. apples unchanged.
