Teachers Institute Now in Session at Lincoln School

The 1907 session of the colored teachers institute opens in Sedalia at Lincoln High School with 25 teachers from Pettis Bates Benton Cass Henry Johnson Moniteau Morgan St Clair counties. Prof Christopher Nubbard directs with help from Supt. J M Harris and speakers Prof G V Buchanan and Prof W H Huston. Mrs Anna Henley and Miss Fannie Patterson among local educators noted in attendance.

Educators Lead Sedalia Institute for Negro Uplift in Missouri

Billups and Wiley University staff head a notable institute at Sedalia aimed at advancing pedagogy among Black educators. Twenty five attend roll call with growing enrollment as teachers from Lincoln School Sedalia and others across Henry, Pettis, and surrounding counties participate. The Missouri Educational Department supports longer, more substantial programs beyond two day institutes.

Teacher Holds Sessions To Discuss Different Approaches

A report notes that teachers, who found limited benefit from earlier sessions, decided to hold meetings biweekly. The change aims to give teachers more time to discuss varied instructional approaches and share insights.

W A Gunnell and A W Lloyd issue a proclamation detailing date changes for the 24rd Annual Grand Lodge Session of the Knights of Pythias Missouri jurisdiction. It sets Fayette Mo as meeting city, July 15 16 1907, outlines per capita taxes and endowment dues, reporting requirements, representation rules, memorials, and lodging arrangements. The notice governs compliance, attendance, and official procedures for lodges and officers.

Teachers Are Born Not Made Lecture Remarks

The Sedalia public schools superintendent and Prof C V Buchanan lectured on physiology and pedagogy. Buchanan said teaching success begins with the individual being born right. An assistant instructor at the Institute, also manager of the city’s only Negro paper, noted deep interest in educational work.

Gass Treadway Schools Lawyer and Doctors Committee

A local committee formed by Gass and Treadway schools includes attorney H G Phillips and Dr Harris to discuss collaboration and policy guidance. The group meets to outline governance roles and educational initiatives across districts.
